About Us

Wreford's Transport was founded in 1904 by Silvanus William Wreford, and the initials SWW can be seen on all of our fleet of vehicles today.

Silvanus and his wife Lily produced three sons, Leonard, Sidney and Herbert, and the current Managing Director, Michael is the son of Sid.

Michael, with his wife Daphne also produced three sons, Mark, Andrew and Robert, and all three sons hold various posts in the business today.

Wreford's Transport began their business life with horses before the Great War (1914-1918), and soon moved to traction in 1919 by purchasing an ex. Army Peerless truck.

The rest as they say is history, and today Wreford's fleet consists of modern, state of the art, Daf and MAN (ERF) Tractor Units, and varying models of trailers from, Tautliners, Box Vans, Skeletals and the Double-Deck variety.

1904-2004 signified 100 years of Wrefords Transport

In 1954, S. W. Wreford (Warehousing) Company Limited was formed, and in 1979 Woodview Light Transport was born to give the Wreford Group of Companies an opportunity to offer an overall Transport and Warehousing package.

In recent years, it became apparent that there was a shortage of qualified HGV drivers in the UK, and LGV Trainers was formed in a 50:50 partnership with the Judith Hearn Agency Limited.
