1904

Our founder Silvanus William Wreford (nicknamed Ben). He started the business with a single horse and cart. Within 12 months he doubled the size of his enterprise. By the outbreak of World War One he had a fleet of horses, carts and 11 drivers.

1919

Silvanus (Ben) bought the companies first motorised vehicle after the end of the first world war.

1947

The company continued to grow from strength to strength. Our horse and carts were replaced by motorised vehicles from this point.

1952

We opened our first warehouse on Ransome road, Northampton.

1953

Shortly after finishing with the use of horse and cart our fleet grew to 10 motorised vehicles.

1979

Wreford’s started our light haulage group called Woodview, a branch off of the main business.

Our now Chairman Michael William Wreford, stepped up and assumed the role of MD in 1980 after many years of working within the family business.

2004

We celebrated our 100 year anniversary. Our fleet had grown to over 80 vehicles.

2012

Wreford’s moved to their own brand new purpose build premises with workshop and ATF lanes.

We are a Strong group of companies with 3 warehouses and an extensive fleet of over 80 vehicles, we continue to evolve and expand as a successful business 118 years on.
